mad men: the gypsy and the hobo [s3e11]

By ryan rutledge, the guy who loves tv on October 25th, 2009

i cannot stand this affair between don and the skanky whore of a teacher. seriously. betty is amazing. what the hell is wrong with him?!? i’m just glad that betty is on her way to exposing don and all his lies. i was okay with the previous marriage one but now that he’s a cheating ass, i’m hoping the world falls down on him.

speaking of amazing … so happy to see joan in this episode. she’s absolutely awesome and i hope she ends up back at the agency in an even stronger role.

the attorney’s advice to just stay with don just blew my mind. what is wrong with people?

If you haven’t already seen this episode (or want to watch it again), check out Hulu or NBC for access to full episodes of this show.

THE SUMMARY: wallace shows up from corporate and has a private meeting with jim which michael tries his best to eavesdrop on. meanwhile, dwight and toby investigate an office injury that darryl has. as michael finds out the meeting between wallace and jim was about a promotion, michael then has to make a decision to either lose jim or give him a promotion that threatens his status.

THE AWESOMENESS VERDICT: 8 out of 10 awesomes. hilarious as usual.

THE COMMENTARY: i’m going to be honest, it took me a few seconds to figure out why michael had asked oscar to come into the office to discuss the colonoscopy. and once i did i was laughing hysterically.

i strive to be as awkward as michael is in everyday life. i am going to be a boss like that and make people feel uncomfortable by saying awkward things to them.

i find the name wallace as a first name is rather odd. wally. that’s a horrible nickname.

haha the cheese platter is absolutely awesome. especially with the shaker of parmesan shaker. classy touch.

i had to watch the scene with dwight and toby on the stake-out in the car three or four times to hear all the dialogue because i couldn’t stop laughing. [clip to be added when avail on hulu]

“i would say that my greatest talent is being the best man, woman, or child to have ever run this branch. ever.” – michael

wow i don’t think i’ve ever loathed michael as much as i do at this point. shady business.

dwight’s reaction to jim’s promotion is absolutely priceless.
